Tooling matters less than culture. The best analytics stack in the world won’t help a team that argues from anecdotes. Here are ten questions we ask every team we work with.
- Can every PM answer “how many people used my feature this week?” in under a minute?
- Does the team agree on what “active” means, in writing?
- When a metric moves unexpectedly, who notices — and how fast?
- Do you review abandoned experiments, or only launches?
- Can a designer see retention curves without asking an analyst?
- Is there one shared dashboard the whole company trusts?
- Do you kill features on data, or does everything survive?
- Are alerts actionable, or do people mute them?
- Does finance and product see the same revenue numbers?
- Would a new hire know where to look on day one?
If you answered “no” to more than three, the problem isn’t your tools — it’s the habits around them. Start with question 2: a written, shared definition of “active user” fixes more arguments than any dashboard ever will.
